Bulletin President, Kristi called the meeting to order at 12:10 p.m. Mike Rice led us in song and Jim Ragsdale gave the invocation. Guests: Steve Bagwell introduced a potential new member, Andrew Abdelnour. Welcome Andrew and hope you join. Fines: Lucy continued her tour of duty as Fine Mistress. 25 cents here, 50 cents there, and so it goes. Happy Dollars: Jerry was two dollars happy not to have Jack around to rub it in. Eric was happy to have free lunches on his new employer. Steve was happy about some stupid football game. Marv Norman was happy, but this week's editor did not note why. Announcements: There will be a board meeting this coming Thursday, December 7, 2006 at McMenimans beginning at 7:00 am. There will be an inter-club with the Dallas Kiwanis Club on December 6 to deliver the Inter-Club Vehicle. Donna, Chuck and Lucy plan on going. They need one more to qualify as an official Inter-club. Anyone else want to go? Next on the agenda was the Big Cheese himself, Jim Ragsdale. It is that time of year. Yes, the Cheese Wagon is parked by U S Bank and we all know what that means. The club need workers to fill empty time slots on the Cheese Wagon Sign Up Sheet. Jim and the club could really use your help. Jim sent out an email with the information. Please sign up. Our Lt. Governor: Lt. Governor Lee Wright was given three minutes and he did not go over. First we had a sing along to SMILE. He then informed us that any club with a 25% increase in membership will be entitled to a big refund from Kiwanis International. Sounds good. Let's see if we can do it. Program: Our guest speaker was local resident and mushroom expert, Jake Hulbert. Jake has a background in biology. He has long been involved with the local Native Plant Society. It saw that there was not a lot of local knowledge about mushrooms and he started learning about the fungi and has never stopped. Some tidbits from Jake's presentation: There are fireflies in the Coast Range. Mushrooms are about travel, friends and adventure. Jake is always happy to help identify mushrooms.
